Be the Authority of Your Flow
I’m incredibly excited to launch my first website and blog! I enjoy writing and helping others thrive, so the combination of the two is an exhilarating feeling. I hope you get a TON out of it and enjoy taking this journey together. I’ll post one blog per week, with content primarily based on real estate investing, with some self-development woven in. I’ll sprinkle in updates of my journey and lessons learned as I go through deals as well so you can all learn from my experience.
For this first blog post, I thought it would be fitting to share the origin of The Flow Authority and why you should care. The Flow Authority really began back in COVID-19, when a lot of entrepreneurs seemed to have embarked on their journeys. I had been practicing civil engineering for about 3 years when we were ordered to work from home. I was living alone at the time in a one bedroom apartment, with no roommates, companions, fur babies, or any of that. At first, I was excited, but I quickly became lonely, bored, and frankly a little depressed due to the self-isolation. I started looking for something to fill my time.
First it was the stock market, then it was real estate, then it was health coaching, and then back to real estate. You might be asking why real estate didn’t stick the first time. Well, it’s because I was trying to do it on my own in the wrong market! I was looking to house hack (live in one unit and rent out the others) in Orange County or Los Angeles County, and the numbers just didn’t support that strategy. Not only that, but for every property I bid on, there was always someone bidding higher, usually with a cash offer. I was in over my head, and this ended up being a blessing in disguise!
After my first stint at real estate, I gave it a break. During that break, I decided to join a health program, Optavia, because like many, I gained a lot of weight during COVID. Thankfully, the program worked wonders, and I lost 55 pounds!! I was sold on the program and decided to try marketing the product myself as a health coach. Although health coaching didn’t work out, I ended up meeting a ton of people, including my close friends Nate and Tabitha. They introduced me to a community of over 20,000 investors across the country that provides over 90 classes in real estate investing and business education. I ended up joining, and because of this program and the mentorship it provides, I was able to go from owning just one unit in 2023 to 8 units in 2024, and I am currently under contract to purchase an additional 5 units in 2025. My goal this year is to add 22 units to my portfolio, and I am well under way! It’s only a matter of time so long as I continue to lean on my community and education and take the necessary actions to continue to grow.
Going back to the pandemic, I would have never thought I’d be where I’m at today. After I hit my goal of 22 units, I will be in a position to quit my day job in engineering if I so choose. And that’s the point, isn’t it? To have the freedom to choose! Nobody should feel forced to do something they don’t want to do. Noone should feel that they have to follow the “normal” path that is preached in this country but fails the majority of its citizens (i.e., go to school, get good grades, go to college, get good grades, get a job, save, retire). Let’s face it, for most of us that is a boring way to live our lives, and honestly it’s quite sad. We’re banking our entire retirement on how the stock market performs, an assumed rate of inflation, how much money we’ll need in retirement, and an assumed year of DEATH. What a dreadful thought.
When I learned that real estate could provide steady, passive cash flow for the rest of my life, I was hooked. Say no more. Get more doors, get more cash flow, quit the job, and be free. Sounds like a recipe for a much more interesting life where I have the time and financial ability to live life on my terms, to be there for my family, to try new hobbies, travel the world, teach a class, take a new course, go on a month long hiatus in nature, or just take a day off without having to request off or worrying if I’ll have enough PTO to get by. I refuse to conform to the simple-minded, small thinking of the “normal” way. I want something more. I want to be in control of my life. I want to be the authority of my flow.
And you can have it too! I’m making it my mission to break free of the norm and take anyone who wants to come along for the ride. Dream big, because remember - it’s free to dream! Never compromise. Never give up. The ONLY way you can possibly fail is if you quit. If you never quit, you never fail. You will find a way to win, and with my help and the help of our community, we can simplify the process to help us all win together.
I look forward to taking this journey together and am excited to share more as I put out these blogs each week. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or want to pick my brain because I’m an open book!
Be the authority of your flow and live your authentic life, because remember, it’s your life, your canyon, your legacy. You are in control. Let’s flow!
